From Gaia to HCI: On Multi-disciplinary Design and Co-adaptation

چکیده
In 1979, James Lovelock published a controversial book entitled Gaia: A New look at Life on Earth, which challenged the conventional wisdom about how the earth evolved. He hypothesized that living organisms form a self-regulating system, named after the Greek Goddess Gaia, which is directly responsible for creating and maintaining the earth's atmosphere. In other words, life did not simply evolve in response to pre-existing physical conditions but rather co-evolved, regulating the earth's physical conditions to create a homeostatic balance that has been maintained for eons. Although initially trained in chemistry,

Satellite Conceptual Design Multi-Objective Optimization Using Co Framework
This paper focuses upon the development of an efficient method for conceptual design optimization of a satellite. There are many option for a satellite subsystems that could be choice, as acceptable solution to implement of a space system mission. Every option should be assessment based on the different criteria such as cost, mass, reliability and technology contraint (complexity). In this rese...

A growing number of HCI models provide insights into humanand system-oriented aspects of design artefacts. Experience with modelling in practice suggests that the more difficult design problems are cross-disciplinary, and there is a need to be able to integrate both the results and the process of HCI modelling. This document reports on the techniques for integration that have been developed and...

Background and Objective: The rapid expansion of knowledge and information, fragmentation and dispersion of various sectors of traditional curricula, and little connection with the real world have made learners pay more attention to the issue of integration in curricula. The aim of this study was to compare the viewpoints of academic staff of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences with the...
متن کاملAdaptable Multi-Agent Systems: the Case of the Gaia Methodology
Changes and adaptations are always necessary after the deployment of a multi-agent system (MAS), as well as of any other type of software systems. Some of these changes may be simply perfective and have local impact only. However, adaptive changes to meet new situations in the operational environment of the MAS may impact globally on the overall design. More specifically, those changes usually ...
